GSF in brief
New brochure of GSF (pdf)
GSF is a joint initiative of Aalto University, Hanken School of Economics, Lappeenranta University of Technology, University of Oulu and University of Vaasa. The main objective of the GSF is to promote high quality doctoral education in finance in Finland by organizing advanced level doctoral courses, seminars, workshops and tutorials. GSF offers a well structured program for obtaining a Ph.D. degree in Finance for students registered in the participating Universities.
Approximately 10 students will be admitted to the program each year and it typically takes 4 to 5 years to finish the PhD degree in Finance. One and a half years at the beginning of the doctoral studies are devoted mostly to intensive course work that is then followed by research for the PhD dissertation. Roughly half of the graduated doctors enter the academic world and the rest pursue careers in the private sector. For further details on where our former PhD students are currently employed, please see their placements.
